An editorial is a short statement or article by a publication that expresses the opinion of the editor or publisher and reflects the stance of the publication. An "op-ed" is usually a guest opinion article appearing on the page opposite an editorial. The opinions expressed on op-ed pages reflect those of the individual authors, not the publication. Editorials are printed on their own page and are always labeled as editorials to avoid confusion with news coverage. They oftent address current events or public controversies. Generally, editorials fall into four broad types: news, policy, social, and special. |
