According to National Mortgage News, Countrywide Financial is considering a layoff of up to 10,000 people. This would probably register as the largest layoff in the history of the mortgage industry according to the report from National Mortgage News.
Countrywide currently employs tens of thousands of people and the talk of a layoff of this size should be cause for grave concern in the mortgage industry.
